Week 56: Staying in Harrison

Dear Family and Friends,
We got transfer calls this week and we are both staying in Harrison! 🙂 Hooray!!
On Monday Sister Goodman, my trainer was visiting the mission with her mom and she took us to lunch! it was really good to see her again! Then we went to dinner and FHE at the Moomey’s they are coming back to church and her brother in law has been coming to church and we are going to start teaching him. They are a really neat family!!
Happy St. Patrick’s Day!! We were on exchanges on St Patty’s. I was in Springfield with Sister Powell. It was a really good day. We didn’t really do anything special for St Patty’s but our dinner gave us green cool aid. It was pretty sour but really good. The lady who fed us dinner is a returning less active so she is quitting smoking right now. so the sisters have been going over to her house at 5 am because that’s the time she craves a cigarette the most. so we did that on Wednesday morning too. I was sooo tired that day. but it was good.
Members came out with us a lot this week and drove us around to meet people in Lead Hill. Which is about 40 minutes away from Harrison. Our ward boundaries are so huge so we don’t get to go to the far away places very often. So it was really good to have them with us.
We had a super awesome lesson with Cameron this week. We taught him the plan of salvation and he was so interested and asked a lot of questions. He is awesome! We were talking to his wife on Saturday during a service project. She said that she is surprised he is doing so well cause she never thought he would accept it. He used to be super against the church. She’s working on getting back to the temple too. So it’s really exciting for her! We are glad we are staying because it’s such an important time for him and pretty soon i think we can set a baptism date with him.
That’s about it for this week. We are off to go to our district outing so we can say bye to the elders who are leaving. There are sisters coming into our district so that’s exciting! It won’t be just us and a bunch of elders! 🙂
Love yall and miss you!!

Week 55: When in Doubt…Do Some Service.

Dear Family and Friends,

The weeks have just flown by! We have already been in Harrison for a month. We are finally getting the hang of things and we’ve met most of the people in the ward. We still meet new people every day though. It’s really exciting when we meet more people. There a lot of people who are prepared to receive the gospel.

This week was our zone conference. It was really good. I love zone conferences. They are really draining by the end. But they are so spiritual! We got there at 7:30 and didn’t leave until 5. Then we went to a place called Lamberts for dinner with the Whitney’s. It was super good. Their “thing” is that they are the home of the throwed rolls. They come in with a pan of hot rolls. and you raise your hand and they throw them to you! It was super fun!! 🙂
On Saturday we were driving to drop in on some investigators we are teaching, when we drove by some of the members and we thought they were moving someone in to their house so we stopped and asked if they needed any help. Brother Pursifull said that they needed help painting their new house they are moving in next Saturday. So we went and put on our paint clothes and we painted basically all day. Sister Pursifull is 9 months pregnant and their kids were sick too. They didn’t have anyone to help them so it was really great that we stopped and talked to him. cause if we weren’t there it would have taken them so much longer. It was super good.

We had an awesome lesson the other day at Shelby’s. We never know who will be over at her house when we go over cause her house is where all her friends hang out. But it’s really cool cause we keep meeting new people and they become interested or at least listen to the lessons. It’s been really cool. Anyway. Shelby had to go to work so we taught her friends the cup display that explains the restoration. They were all really interested and said it made sense. It was really cool.

Yesterday after church we went to see Heidi, who had just come back into town and the elders had been teaching the people she’s living with, but we hadn’t been able to meet them yet. But we finally did and they are awesome. They have a super cute baby and they are getting married on Saturday so that’s exciting. They are not going to a church right now, and don’t really have a set church or religion so they are really open.

I love yall!!

Week 54: Spring Spring Spring!

Dear Family and Friends,
We had our last snow fall of the year, and it’s already feeling like spring time. I can’t wait!! 🙂

This has been a really great week. We had our district outing last Monday, We went to Buffalo Wild Wings in Branson and played signs at the church after. It was really fun! We have a pretty awesome district.

We are continuing to teach Heidi (The one who was in a coma) She is super sweet and we are so excited to be teaching her. We are going to invite her to be baptized tomorrow. She’s super prepared it’s awesome!

We had a super great lesson with the Whitneys. (Part member family) We did the restoration cup display. It was super good. I’ll have to take a picture of it and send it so you know what I’m talking about. I’ve used this lesson a lot with people. And they came to church on Sunday! It was awesome. They stayed all three hours too.

I’m not sure if I mentioned Shelby yet but she’s awesome. We tracted into her while we were on exchanges. We heard her singing when we knocked on the door, so when she let us inside we asked her to sing for us. So she did and played her guitar. She’s been in a couple of bands and she’s really good. She’s 23 i think. Anyway she lives in a house with her brother and people are always at her house. She always has friends over. So when we go to teach her we never know who we will actually be teaching. We have three investigators including Shelby who have been at her house. and possibly a fourth. This week we taught the Plan of Salvation and it was a super great lesson!

After church yesterday we went with some members to the Powers family. He’s a single dad and has three kids. They are all super nice and sweet. They joined the church about 3 years ago. Then he got divorced so he stopped coming because he didn’t see a point in going to the temple if they weren’t going to get sealed. It’s really sad. But we are going back soon and going to continue to teach them. They are all super sweet!

I love Harrison!! It’s such an amazing place. There’s no better place to be a missionary!

Hurrah for Israel!

ps. I left my camera at the zone outing and still haven’t gotten it back…. :/ So I’ll have pictures next week hopefully!!

Week 53: Over the Hill & Sprinting to the Finish Line!

Dear Family and Friends,

I started my letter a little late so I don’t have very much time today to write because we are going to Branson soon for a district outing.

I have officially been out for a YEAR!! It’s crazy!

We are still meeting a lot of people and it’s been really good. We are getting the hang of the area and all the members.

Funny story of the week. We walked into a part members house who we’ve met with before and we were just standing there talking and I was about to sit down. Then Sister Goyette (the member) clears her throat and points to my feet. I looked down and saw that my skirt was on the GROUND!!! Good thing I had a slip on that day and leggings!! It was so funny! I hurried and pulled up my skirt and started laughing!! It was so funny! That skirt is super huge on me and I have safety pins on it to make it smaller but they came undone so my skirt fell down!! Haha

They cancelled church because of the weather yesterday but 3 non members said they were coming to church which was sad. but they will be coming next week!! 🙂

This is a super great area and I’m so excited to be here!!!  The members are awesome and there’s tons to do here. The only down side is that there are a lot of potentials who live super far away but that’s never stopped me before!! 🙂 It’s been really great so far and I’m excited for what’s ahead. The last 6 months are going to be the BEST and I’m super excited! 🙂

We started teaching this lady who had been in a coma for 3 months and had been “alive” for about 17 days! She’s a super funny vibrant lady. She may be a little crazy but we love her a lot! She’s super awesome!

That’s about it for this week! I love you and miss ya’ll!

Hurrah for Israel!

Sister Moon

I will send pictures next week!
